What You’ll Learn This hands-on, practical class covers the essentials of caring for your newborn in those first precious weeks, including: • Newborn appearance and behavior – What’s normal (and what’s not) in those early days • Feeding basics – Breastfeeding, bottle feeding, and how to know your baby is getting enough • Diapering and cord care – Keeping your baby clean, dry, and comfortable. Learn about different diapering options, such as cloth diapers and how to navigate all the choices available. • Soothing and sleep – How to calm your baby and support healthy rest for the whole family. Practicing the best swaddle so when baby is here, you'll be a pro swaddled • Bonding and babywearing – Building connection and confidence through closeness • Safety and wellness – Safe sleep, car seat basics, and when to call your provider Who It’s For Perfect for expectant parents, partners, and support people, whether this is your first baby or you’re growing your family. • Instructor: Taught by your midwife, who brings both professional experience and real-world insight from years of helping families thrive in the newborn stage. Feel Prepared and Empowered. By the end of class, you’ll have practical skills, realistic expectations, and the confidence to care for your new baby with love and ease. *********************** Coming in 2026!!!! I am currently working on getting becoming a CPR/First Aid instructor and will be adding CPR/First Aid classes for the parent(s) and anyone who will have a role in caring for the newborn. It will be an option to do with the Newborn Care Class, or on its own. When you’re caring for a baby or child, emergencies can happen in an instant — even in the safest homes. Knowing infant and child CPR gives parents and caregivers the knowledge and confidence to act quickly if something unexpected occurs. Why It’s So Important • Infants and children are more vulnerable. Young children can choke, stop breathing, or experience sudden cardiac or respiratory events due to small airways, illness, or accidents. • Seconds count. In an emergency, every moment without oxygen can affect a child’s outcome.
